The Abbey Arms Hotel is an attractive and welcoming family run hotel. It sits in the square of the picturesque village of New Abbey, on the Solway Coastal Route,  3 miles from Mabie 7stanes and 7 miles from Dumfries.

The Abbey Arms facilities include:
  •  A friendly well stocked bar, with a wide range of ales, including continental lagers and always a good real ale.
  •  Our restaurant provides a wide varied range of home prepared meals, something to cater for all tastes.
  •  The Wee Room, a small lounge with a big open fire, which is always lit in the winter.
  •  We have seven letting bedrooms, six are en-suite and one with private facilities. All have tea and coffee making facilities, television, hairdryer and are individually decorated to a high standard.
  •  A large Residents Lounge , in case you prefer just sit and relax, with multi-fuel stove and digital television.
The Abbey Arms Hotel is an ideal base for riding three of the 7stanes, the premier mountain biking trails in Scotland. These are:

Mabie Forest (3 miles),one of the early leaders in mountain bike courses in Scotland. It is renowned for its expert level north-shore (  tricky wooden trails ), the longest known as “The Dark Side”. Mabie does however have many other routes for all level of skills.

Forest of Ae (18 miles) offering a superb downhill course for experts together with easier routes.

Dalbeattie (17 miles), renowned for its massive “slab” rock feature.

In addition there is Drumlanrig near Thornhill, which despite not being a 'stane' is regarded as a bit of a jewel and is only a half hour drive away.
There are 8 trails set in a more natural environment suitable for all levels of skills, Drumlanrig is also where the only Scottish museum of cycling is to be found and where the bicycle was invented by Keir Macmillan.

To make your stay as comfortable as possible, we can provide:
  •  Secure bike storage
  •  Bike washing facilities
  •  Limited workshop facilities
  •  Packed Lunches
