About MBBNDumfries
and Galloway Chamber of Commerce (DGCC) have created a Mountain
Bike Business Network (MBBN) for all businesses involved or wishing to be
involved in providing services directly
or indirectly to users of the 7stanes mountain bike trails managed by the Forestry Commission and the privately managed trails at Drumlanrig. The day to day
management of the web site has been contracted to Tourism Doctor Limited,
however all web content will be controlled directly by authorised
administrators of DGCC and MBBN. Our 7Stanes Partners - At an early stage we recognised the need for the input of key people directly involved with the sport of mountain biking and the 7stanes.com project. We wanted the best and most knowledgeable and talented people to work with us and we are delighted therefore that the following people have been involved in the creation of this website and we thank them for their assistance. Tourism Doctor Limited,
launched in October 2007 evolved from a need the company indentified to
find solutions to online marketing problems they faced in creating a
formidable web presence for their two main portal products,
VisitSouthernScotland.com and SouthernUplandWay.com. These definitive
guides to all tourism related activities in southern Scotland now
attract over 100,000 visitors a month, have substantially raised the
profile of the Region, brought many new people to southern Scotland
from around the world and generated millions of pounds of revenue for
the local tourism industry. Using the latest technology, marketing techniques and web design protocols they have developed a proven product range which is flexible and affordable to suit all types of business. Their services are delivered by a team based locally in D&G with over 20 years collective IT and marketing experience. Ronnie Bradford a Director of Tourism Doctor Limited is a board member of the Chamber, the MTB Business Network and also the MTB Business Network Advisory Group. Visit: www.tourismdoctor.com Clive Forth from www.ironhorse-extreme.com is on
hand with his Skills School and along with Rob Lee offer assistance and
guidance on mountain bike skills and technique. Both are qualified (to MBL
standard) SIMBA guides with an ongoing commitment to improving their personal
development and teaching techniques.
With impressive individual portfolios, both in Racing and
Teaching, they have experience of racing for top teams such as Volvo Cannondale
and Adidas. Both of them have been helping riders to enhance their own
performance and enjoyment for well over a decade. Visit: www.ironhorse-extreme.com Iain Withers founder of MB7, a Border’s based company offering 7 Stanes package tours, grew up on Scotland's trails, before they invented berms and drop-offs (shortly after they invented trees). Iain has a passion for two wheels and is willing to try any type of cycling. MB7 is simply a way of passing that passion on. Iain is a member of the MTB Business Network Advisory Group. Visit: www.mb7.com Rik Allsop's name is synonymous with MTB sports in southern Scotland. As the designer of an 8 mile ‘Rik’s Red Route’ of the Mabie section of 7Stanes and responsible for Rik’s Bike Shed, the regions only specialist MTB shop owned and staffed by riders with race experience, he is now involved in creating one of the UK's premier venues for cross country racing at Drumlanrig near Thornhill. Since 2002 Drumlanrig has played host to the National Points Series and Scottish Cross Country Mountain Bike Championships. The course is constantly evolving with new sections of singletrack being added to extend the overall distance and add to user enjoyment. Rik is a member of the MTB Business Network Advisory Group. Visit: www.drumlanrig.com Julie Cartner, Scottish Mountain Biking Champion from Dumfries, now works with the 7Stanes Team at the Forestry Commission and has taken up the job of Lead Co-ordinator for the Euro funded project, which is continuing to build up the seven mountain bike centres across the Borders and Dumfries and Galloway. Her role includes a number of key areas of work: business liaison; marketing and promotion; event organisation; developing outreach work to bring more groups into biking; and visitor monitoring. Julie is a member of the MTB Business Network Advisory Group and assists the Chamber in the adminitration of the MTB Business Network. Visit: www.7stanes.gov.uk Graham Riddell is primarily a landscape photographer who has extended into other areas such as corporate commissions, a little product and portrait work, PR and Events coverage. He is a generalist with an emphasis on Scottish landscapes rather than a purist in any one particular field of study. He has recently produced some of the most exciting images yet of racers on the 7Stanes courses, many of which we have used in the creation of this website. Visit: www.grphotography.co.uk Alan Devlin, based in Dumfries concentrates mainly on images of Southern Scotland, in particular Dumfries and Galloway. Whilst capturing it’s varied landscapes and culture he has developed a strong love of the area, which can clearly be seen, in his photography. As well as undertaking commissioned work, Allan also writes articles for national magazines such as “The Great Outdoors”, “Outdoor Photography” etc. - all based around walking or being out of doors in southern Scotland.
