Accommodation for Newcastleton
Newcastleton is based in historic Border Reiver country, known as "The debatable Land", home of the Armstrongs and Elliots. The village of Newcastleton was founded in 1793 by the Duke of Buccleuch around the handloom weaving community, situated a few miles away from Old Castleton located further up the Liddel Water. With neatly aligned streets and squares Newcastleton today is a picturesque rural village and offers leisurely times amongst friendly and hospitable people. The pace and life of Newcastleton has changed little over the years.
There are plenty of hotels that are accustomed to accommodating visitors with outdoor interests many with facilities for storing bikes and drying clothes! This area also has some fantastic self catering cottages, village inns and B&B’s.
