Barend Holiday Village is in an idyllic setting, overlooking a loch and
golf and surrounded by hills and forests teeming with wildlife, only a
quarter mile inland from the beautiful, safe, Sandyhills beach on the
Colvend Coast.
It is an ideal base for mountain bikers, cyclists, walkers,
birdwatchers and all those who enjoy all the peaceful outdoor
pursuits available
in
the stunning scenery which is Dumfries & Galloway; an area of outstanding
natural beauty.
All of the Scandinavian
style chalets are comfortable, well equipped, with central
heating for year round use and are the equivalent of a 3 star rating. There are "pets
welcome" as well as "pet-free" chalets.
There
are three types of accommodation at Barend Holiday Village; all well equipped for the freedom of
self-catering and our prices include bedlinen, towels and heating. All
chalets are equipped with TV & DVD, some also still have video,
some have
dishwashers and some have satellite. If you require
dishwasher or satellite these must be pre booked.
On-site
facilities at Barend Holiday Village include The Solway Inn bar and
restaurant; a small children's playground; two purpose built boules
courts overlooked by terraced seating areas with panoramic views over
the Solway to the mountains of the Lake District; a laundrette; and
an indoor heated pool and sauna which is available at no extra
charge.
Ride the 7 Stanes - In nearby Dalbeattie,
you can tackle route 3 of the "7Stanes" which includes the
Hardrock Trail (intermediate), Moyle Hill Trail (intermediate/easy)
and Ironhash
Trail
(easy).
Cycles are available for hire
on site. Dumfries
and Galloway has over 400 miles of signposted cycle routes, voted as
the best maintained in the UK. Country road cycling and mountain biking
is very popular in Dumfries and Galloway which has some of the best cycle
routes in the country.
Although our nearest shop is two miles away, we are happy to
arrange daily deliveries of bread, milk and newspapers, and any
groceries needed upon arrival.
