7stanes Ae

Ae was the last of the 7stanes to be built and is inspired more than a little by a trip to Whistler Blackcomb Mountain Bike Park in British Columbia prior to building. Ae shows the scarier face of XC riding and is not to be underestimated. Beginners best stay away from the 7stanes trail and take a leisurely pedal up the water of Ae to the Outdoor Centre - to enjoy the secluded glen.

There has been a downhill course at the entrance to Ae forest for years and it regularly welcomes national racing events. The course is for expert riders and offers plenty of Big-Huck options for long travel bikes. If you understood the jargon, you'll probably be able to ride it.

The newest face of Ae mountain biking is the Scottish Power Renewable Energy Ae Line 7stanes trail. The Ae Line 7 stanes trail is a schizophrenic trail beginning with twisty, woodsy singletrack through mixed forests before spitting you out on 'extreme XC' trails with giant berms (banked corners) and tabletops (long jumps with flat centres).

Mountain Biking at Ae
The 7 stanes trail culminates in the Omega Man descent which requires confidence to enjoy. Omega Man offers a seemingly endless series of jumps ends with a suitably treacherous northshore skinny (felled, skimmed tree) to take on. Your skill levels will determine whether you survive or rule at Ae.

The blue at Ae is well underway too. There's only one section of this 6km trail left to build, and then the trail builders will be moving on to the skills area at Mabie. There's been a delay in getting the Mabie skills area started, but it will be ready for early summer.
