Additional Information
Dunploddin' is a newly built and purpose designed self catering property to provide all you need for a relaxing and peaceful holiday in the Southern Uplands of Scotland and would make an excellent base from which to explore the world class 7stanes mountain bike trails of Dumfries and Galloway.

Dunploddin' is situated on a very quiet road without through traffic, at around 1200 feet above sea level there is a true sense of peace and tranquillity.

Formerly a shepherd's cottage, this converted barn is a true rural delight. The nearest village of Penpont is 12 miles away, and this wonderfully remote location totally belies the state of the art refurbishment carried out September 2009. This compact cottage is on two levels, and exudes lots of natural light, and charm all of its own.

We offer secure bike and equipment storage with an area to hang wet outdoor clothing. A well equipped cycle repair workshop with bike stand is available for use, and if you need to use the jet wash just ask. We can also accommodate your dog/s in our comfortable kennels if you wish to bring your four-legged friend with you, but not inside the cottage please.

In May, June and July guests can watch the development of the resident barn owl's that have residency in an adjoining barn, via a camera link to the cottage. Nesting kestrels, peregrins, oyster catchers, herons and house martins abound here - a real ornithologists dream.

The first pedal cycle was invented in Dumfries and Galloway just down the road at Keir and if you fancy it, a ride on our full size working replica will make you realise just what has been accomplished in the last 170 years!

From the house there are many routes with little tarmac and incorporating our nearby Polskeoch forest and the Southern Upland Way. Dunploddin' is one of only 4 properties situated on the Southern Upland Way, Scotland's 212 mile coast to coast LDR.

Upper Level : 1 bedroom with double and single bed with free-standing bath and velux windows with beautiful views across the valley . Lower level : Open plan lounge / dining area / kitchen and separate shower-room. Cooking by gas hob/electric oven, gas central heating plus electric fire. Fridge, freezer, microwave, Freeview  television, DVD, CD player. Bed linen and towels provided. Gas and electric are included up to the value of £40 per week. Short breaks often available.
