 Fans of the great outdoors are being asked to get on their bikes for the chance to win £500 worth of vouchers to spend on mountain biking equipment in the south of Scotland.
The Eat, Sleep, Ride campaign is being run by the Forestry Commission Scotland and the three groups which support the local businesses situated around the 7stanes. It aims to encourage people to visit all 7stanes and collect stamps from the businesses they use.
Tracey McNeish from Dumfries and Galloway’s Mountain Bike Business Network said: “We want people to visit all of the 7stanes and collect stamps from cafes and restaurants where they eat, hotels, guest houses and campsites where they sleep and bike shops where they hire or buy bikes to ride.”
Sarah Macdonald from the Tweed Valley Tourist Consortium added: “Each member of the business groups has a stamp – blue for the Tweed Valley, green for Newcastleton and red for the MBBN. Whenever a customer eats, sleeps or rides with one of our members they can collect a stamp.”
Trevor Cambridge from Visit Newcastleton said: “We’re asking them to collect two stamps from each stane and once they have them all to send the completed card to Forestry Commission Scotland in Dumfries where the draw will be held in April next year.”
Mandy Burgess from Forestry Commission Scotland said: “The 7stanes are the south of Scotland’s biggest tourist attraction and our estimates show that there are over 400,000 visits to the stanes every year. This competition is open to everyone who loves mountain biking and wants to visit all seven of the stanes.”
