Galloway Country Cottages are a small family run holiday letting agency with a keen mountain biker in the family, offering excellent MTB friendly self catering accommodation ideal for visiting the 7 Stanes. All of our self catering Scandinavian chalets at Barend Holiday Village are privately owned and well situated in lovely parkland setting with views over wooded hills, our own small loch and to the South out over the Solway to the Lake District.
Southern Scotland boasts unspoilt countryside, quiet roads, coastal paths and literally hundreds of miles of forest park tracks and cycle ways. For the serious mountain bikers - and for those who just fancy having a go, the development of the world class 7stanes mountain bike trails is a major attraction with two of these - Dalbeattie and Mabie Forest on our doorstep and 3 more - Kirroughtree, Glentrool and Ae are just a short drive away.
Although situated just over an hours drive from the motorways - M6/M74, our properties at Sandyhills in Dumfries and Galloway are deep in the relaxing Galloway countryside and only some 400 yards from the golden sands of Sandyhills bay.
Scotland is a fantastic place to holiday at any time of year. In Dumfries and Galloway you can experience many landscapes, forest parks with Deer and Osprey, rolling farmland and sheltered lochs with Red Kites and Herons, to it's long coastline with spectacular headlands and cliffs and sheltered sandy bays.
All Galloway Country Cottages self catering properties at Barend Holiday Village are mountain biker friendly and furnished and equipped to a high standard. Some properties have secure lockable storage, otherwise have bolted-in security brackets to padlock to, all have partial double glazing and are fully centrally heated - ensuring warm and comfortable holidays throughout the year. Our Scandanavian style chalets have secure bike and equipment storage and ample private parking. Patio furniture is available at all, barbecues at some. We aim to provide self catering as good as home.
