As the name suggests, innerhaven is intended to provide a warm, relaxing and particularly practical place to stay for 2 - 6 guests. It’s the ground floor of a characterful old whinstone house built in the mid 1800’s. Lovingly refurbished, our self catering apartment is perfectly located for outdoors lovers and visitors to Southern Scotland and is only seconds away from some of Scotland’s best mountain biking.
Your hosts - Andy and Aneela - are mountain-bike ‘veterans’ (with scars, aches and pains to prove it!), and it was the huge variety of all-weather riding on our doorstep that convinced us to make the move to Innerleithen a few years ago.
Our master en-suite bedroom sleeps 2 in either twin beds, or a super king size double bed. You can luxuriate in your very own shower, the perfect way to reflect on a great day’s riding at Glentress or Innerleithen.
The larger of the two rooms, Caddon Bank comfortably sleeps 4 - in twin beds, and a comfortable bunk bed too that’s not just for the kids!, and although Caddon Bank doesn’t have its own loo, there’s a second bathroom just off the hall - so there’s no need to queue for that long hot soak you deserve after a trip round the 7stanes. For those that don’t mind sharing, your ‘close’ friends can enjoy a nice hot shower.
The rear of the house is where you’ll want to rest. relax. recharge. It’s an airy, high ceilinged room - with exposed beams, and the tumbling waters of the Leithen.
The brand new kitchen has all the mod cons you’ll need and includes washer/dryer and dishwasher. And if you can’t face doing the cooking or the laundry, let us know - we’ll take care of it for you!
There’s room for 6 at the dining table - and being open-plan it’s the perfect place for socialising - but Innerhaven has plenty of nice neuks and crannies too, so you’ll find your own space to recover from, or reflect on the days events.
If you’ve got a big day tomorrow, you can fettle with your gear until your heart’s content - we’ve provided a secure area adjacent to the living room where you can work on bikes. A heater, dehumidifier, shoe rack and clothes hanging line should ensure you’re ready for tomorrow’s activities.
Overlooking the banks of the Leithen Water, in the small back garden there’s benches, table and chairs enough for 6 guests to get together and draw straws over who’s cooking up a BBQ.
There’s a bike stand and facilities to wash down your gear or bikes before safely stowing them in the secure gear store. A clothes dryer means that if the sun comes out you can dry your kit in no time at all!
If you’re familiar with the area, you’ll already know what the superb purpose-built 7stanes trails have to offer. And it’s not an idle boast that the area offers some of the world’s best mountain biking with internationally renowned cross country and downhill trails just five minutes from the house.
What you might not be so familiar with is the abundance of ‘natural’ trails all around innerhaven, or the novel ways all sorts of trails can be linked and ‘mixed and matched’ once you’ve got a better feel for the landscape - so if you’d like to get to know the area a bit better, Andy and Aneela’ll be happy to show you around whenever they can.
