Additional Information
Lochinvar Cottage is a beautifully restored stone built cottage set in a stunning location on the banks of its own 85 acre loch. The loch is stocked with brown trout and fly fishing is available to those staying at the cottage.

Lochinvar Cottage is situated on an unclassified road in a quiet and very peaceful rural situation just 3 miles from St Johns Town of Dalry. Lochinvar Cottage is in an exceptionally beautiful area of Galloway known as The Glenkens and is centrally located from all five of Dumfries and Galloway's world class 7stanes mountain biking trails. Being in a very rural location allows cyclists to take advantage of the many picturesque country lanes including National Route 7 which passes closeby. The nearby villages of Dalry and New Galloway have a range of hotels, pubs and restaurants (including an Indian Restaurant) along with local stores for most supplies.

Lochinvar Cottage features:

  • An entrance vestibule leads to a comfortable open plan sitting room with large wood burning stove and exposed ceiling beams.
  • The room is open plan to the dining room and has stairs leading up to a double mezzanine bedroom (combed ceilings) with magnificent views across the Loch.
  • There is a well equipped galley style kitchen with fridge freezer, microwave and dishwasher. A high chair can be provided if required.
  • Beyond the dining room is a ground floor triple bedroom which is furnished with a bunk bed and a single bed with a pull out bed underneath. It can sleep 4 people.
  • There is a garage to the side of the property which can be used for storage of bikes etc (the use of 4 bicycles is included at own risk).
Amenities include:

  • Electric storage heaters and wood burning fire (all fuel provided)
  • Electric hob / oven, fridge freezer, Microwave, washer dryer, telephone (honesty box), Sky television, DVD & Video player
  • Games, videos and DVD library, stereo system (DVD, radio and mp3 input)
  • Brick built BBQ and furniture
  • 2 adult & 2 child (approx 10 & 7 yrs) bicycles with helmets
  • Linen & towels provided
  • High chair provided if required
  • Welcome pack provided (milk, butter, bread, orange juice, eggs, toilet roll etc)
The area is rich in wild life. The loch attracts Swans, Grey Lag Geese, Grey Herons and is home to two Great Crested Grebes to name only a few. We also have a local Barn Owl that frequents our garden. There are Eagles, Buzzards, Red Squirrels, Red Dear and even Stoats. The ‘Galloway red Kite Trail’ around Loch Ken is only a few miles away.
