The National Cycle Network is a great success story. Nearly half of you
live within a mile of it. The National Cycle Network carries over 230 million journeys
each year, taking kids to school, workers to work, dogs on walks,
shoppers to shops - it even helps the Royal Mail deliver your post.

National Cycle Route 7 goes from Carlisle to Inverness, with
branches in the seventies, in North England and Scotland. All cycling routes in
Scotland are in the seventies apart from route 1.
Route: Glasgow to Carlisle via Dumfries and Glen Trool.
Distance: Map shows 219 miles of route, of which 41 are traffic-free
From Glasgow cycling along traffic free paths to the hills and pasture of
Ayrshire, with views towards Arran and the Clyde coast. A notable
feature is the huge Galloway Forest Park with many miles of ideal cycling paths. National Cycle Route 7 then follows a descent onto
the Solway Coast and finally through farmland to Carlisle.
