Description
The Flying School is a newly converted luxury 2 bedroom holiday accommodation at Burnhead just 2 miles from the fantastic, natural mountain bike trails of Drumlanrig near Thornhill in Dumfries and Galloway, in what was once a chapel. We are also ideally situated for guests to have easy access to 2 of the world class 7stanes trails at Ae Forest and Mabie, both of which have bike hire and cafes and are ideal for families.

When we moved into the property in 2004 the remaining unconverted section, which is now
The Flying School, was a vast empty shell and was populated by swallows, that had nested in the eaves and the resulting chicks would learn to fly inside the building before venturing out. Hence the name ‘Flying School’!

Although accommodation at the Flying School is limited to 4 persons, we work in conjunction with the neighbouring property of Hillcrest Barn so larger parties of up to 10 can be accommodated. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

The Flying School sits in a colourful garden and access to a 3 acre paddock which is mostly hill! A few friendly sheep, chickens and ducks live in the paddock which has a burn running through it which the ducks adore (fresh free range eggs are available).

The Flying School also features a lovely open plan sitting room leads into a well designed fully equipped kitchen with plenty of space for dining and entertaining on holiday. All floors are wooden with a hand made oak staircase leading to two very well appointed bedrooms including one en-suite .

Both bedrooms are large and airy with high ceilings to accommodate the full height arched windows. The second bedroom has feature lighting around the electric Velux window in the roof. All the furniture and fittings have been carefully chosen and are to a high standard. The double room has the ensuite facilities.
