Description

Situated near the small hamlet of Irongray and only 6 miles from Dumfries, the Old Schoolhouse is a luxury 3 bedroom, detached, Victorian schoolmaster's house which has been renovated to a high standard, retaining many of the original features. The house has a large, well appointed kitchen/dining room, large living room- each with open fires, and three comfortable bedrooms (one double, one king, one twin/superking) plus a stowaway bed allowing the Old Schoolhouse to sleep up to 7 comfortably. It also has a separate laundry area, with a washer/dryer and ample drying facilities.

The Old Schoolhouse also features a large, private garden with garden furniture etc. and native woodland (approximately 3 acres), with two burns running through. In the middle of the wood is the fire pit- a barbeque area in a clearing in the wood. It is a wonderful place for a BBQ. We can provide lighting and electricity to allow your evening to last a bit longer (or to get a bit of music to make the scene perfect!)

The Old Schoolhouse is ideally situated as a base from which to experience the world class mountain biking at Ae Forest (16 miles), Mabie (10 miles) or Drumlanrig (17 miles). The 3 other Dumfries and Galloway 7stanes trails are no more than 90 minutes drive away, travelling through some stunning Galloway scenery.
