Welcome to Waterside Lodges, adjacent to the Southern Uplands Way and close to the 7stanes Mountain Bike Centres at Glentrool and Kirroughtree in Dumfries and Galloway, we offer self-catering cottage accommodation throughout the year for walkers, cyclists, wildlife enthusiasts and holiday makers.
Waterside Lodges, rated 3 & 4 star with VisitScotland, are situated within easy distance by bike or car from Glentrool and Kirroughtree Mountain Bike Trails which are two of the famous 7stanes trails managed by the Forestry Commission.
Ochiltree Lodges can accommodate parties up to 7 people with a covered area opposite the entrance to the lodge, where bike parking facilities are available with a bike repair stand and a bike wash area. On site there are also commercial washing and drying facilities.
Ochiltree Lodge is the largest of the cottages and has three bedrooms, two of which sleep three persons comfortably and one bedroom for a single person. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with showers. There is a communal cooking and dining area that leads into a comfortable lounge area with TV & DVD facilities.
Opposite to Ochiltree Lodge are three converted stables. One of the stables has been converted to allow parking and repair of bikes. The other two stables are areas for washing bikes and provide covered areas for drying of boots and wet gear. There is also a further cottage which also has all “mod cons” which sleeps 3 persons.
Merrick Lodge is offered as either a holiday cottage available for weekly rental or because of its capacity to sleep up to four single people we are able to offer it on an overnight basis for groups who wish to be self contained.
The Lodges can be rented by the room or the whole lodge on a daily basis.
Holiday Cottages - Anne's Cottage & Maberry Cottage have been designed to cater for couples with all "mod cons" to make self-catering an enjoyable experience.
The cottages are spacious and comfortable and provide all the creature comforts of home, after exploring all the different and exciting things Dumfries and Galloway has to offer.
All the cottages offer CCTV and DVD. The CCTV is so you can watch, when in season, the antics of the Barn Owls and Tawny Owls as they bring up their young. You will be amazed how you become absorbed in the drama and antics of the Owl families.
Newton Stewart is only 15 minutes away by car where there are good restaurants and friendly pubs. Mind you, you will have to keep a wary eye open for the deer as you travel. Also Newton Stewart has Shops and Supermarkets where you can stock up with supplies.
